Baldoz allays fear of discrimination against OFWs in Singapore, but urges them to be circumspect

 

 

Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz yesterday allayed fear of discrimination against overseas Filipino workers in Singapore following a publicized suggestion of an unidentified Singaporean to the Singapore Public Transport Council to provide separate buses that would ferry Filipino household service workers to their favorite destination in the city-state. “We believe this is more of an exception rather than the rule, as there are a lot more Singaporeans who perceive Filipinos as wonderful people and recognize their important contributions to the Singapore economy," Baldoz said after she received a report from Labor Attache to Singapore Vicente Cabe saying the unnamed Singaporean had accused Filipino workers of being inconsiderate to their fellow bus passengers by talking and laughing out loud which cause inconvenience to other commuters.
