Baldoz orders POLO, POEA, and OWWA to extend assistance to the family of OFW Bautista Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz yesterday instructed the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Jeddah, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) to look into the case of Engineer Albert Valencia Bautista and extend the necessary assistance to his family. OFW Bautista was killed in a freak vehicular accident last 4 June 2014 and his remains, with his body chopped into five pieces, arrived in his hometown in Santana, Capitangan, Bataan. “I already asked the POLO in Jeddah to immediately send us a report on the police investigation and to give us an update on the salaries and benefits that the OFW must receive from his company, “Baldoz said. OFW Bautista was deployed to KSA in 25 January 2010 by Pert/CPM Manpower Exponents Co. Inc. He renewed his OWWA membership last 15 May 2012 under a 12-month contract. “His OWWA membership is not up-to-date, but I have already instructed OWWA Administrator Calzado to reconsider OFW Bautista’s case so he may receive death and funeral benefits,” Baldoz said. The labor and employment chief also said that POLO-Jeddah will closely monitor the developments of the case and to constantly provide the department with updates on the case. End/rhev
